Security Guard

Location: 8300 Lane Drive, Watervliet
Position Type:  Full-Time, 2nd and 3rd Shift
Compensation: Hourly - Competitive pay based on experience

Summary: Maintain a safe and secure work environment for employees and visitors. Major responsibility includes monitoring for security incidents on company property.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Must have knowledge of and comply with the policies and procedures contained in the Lane Automotive handbook
  • Patrol internal and external premise via foot and/or vehicle to detect signs of and prevent intrusion to ensure security of property and persons
  • Monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons
  • Complete daily activity logs of irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, presence of unauthorized persons, or unusual occurrences
  • Provide surveillance of suspected problem areas
  • Produce surveillance footage for management review
  • Along with manager, assist in investigations of criminal and/or security incidents. Complete written incident report
  • Maintain a security profile which fosters only business professional relations with employees.
  • Assist facility manager in management of alarm system access and building key control systems
  • Respond to alarms and incidents including after hours and on weekends
  • Call police in cases of emergency. Act as a key liaison between the company and emergency service agencies
  • Circulate among visitors, patrons, and employees to monitor for order/safety and protect property during company events
  • Other duties as assigned

High school diploma or GED equivalent. Post-secondary education in security or related field and two or more years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference given for associate degree. Must maintain conviction free criminal record.

Certificates, License, Registration: 
First aid, CPR and AED certification. Valid driver’s license to operate company vehicles.

Physical Requirements:
Physical abilities such as rapidly running and/or walking long distances to respond to security incidents at remote parts of the building and grounds. The employee is frequently required to reach with arms and hands, stand, twist, bend, walk and sit. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds regularly and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Demonstrated competency in the basic use of fire extinguishers.

Employee is frequently required to work extended time beyond an eight-hour shift/40-hour week including shift rotation and weekends. Required to wear the designated security uniform.
